Stealing this from [info]dreamsofspike .

Rules:

1. Make a post to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from something simple and fandom-related to something really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

2. Surf around your friends list to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy.

3. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

All I want for Christmas is... )

A few weeks ago, [info]jonnycarnahan posted a request looking for anyone who might want to join her in writing a Bashir fic. I gladly replied, hoping it would help with my writers block. Did it help? Apparently, if you consider the rather large plot hole we've dug ourselves into. It seems to be getting larger at an exponential rate. Anywho, the name of the story is Involutions, the first in what will hopefully be a series. A series in which the O'Briens fall madly in love with our lovely Julian Bashir. Why? Because it should've happened, that's why. The context was all over in the show. Like, BAM! IN YOUR FACE! in the show. Seriously, if you don't believe me, check This ) by [info]butterfly
Of course, anyone from Bashir/O'Brien has probably already read that and agrees wholeheartedly.

So, without further ado:

Title: Involutions
Authors: [info]taricalmcacil and [info]jonnycarnahan
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Angst/Hurt/Comfort
Pairings: None, this story
Summary: On a trip to the Gamma Quadrant, Julian and Keiko's runabout crash lands in the middle of nowhere, and due to Julian's injuries, Keiko discovers some things about the dear doctor that she never would have imagined.

In other words:

IT CAME IT CAME!!!! *Jumps up and down in post cake eating sugar high*

What came, you ask? My gift from [info]alex51324 , which she made for me as part of her gift mem. Incidentally, I think she still has two spots left for it. Of course, in turn, I'm supposed to create my own, but I know that if I do it right now, I'll fail like three classes. So I've set an alarm on my phone to go off two days after finals are over to yell at me to get my butt in gear and post it. In the meantime, here's a piccy of what Alex made me.

Eeee!!

So thank you Alex!! I love it! I'm going to frame it. Well, first I have to buy a frame. But then I'll frame it.

So squeee!!

It's only Monday and my week already sucks.

I've got a 5 page paper due in English, and I'm only on page one. Which might beg the question of why the hell I'm typing this...but I'm pissed at my roommate, I'm behind in my reading for sci-fi and fantasy again (I'm 20 pages in, I'm supposed to be near 200 by 5:00 Wednesday), and I've never been this stressed out in my life. Like, it's actually making me ill. I've got the cold from hell, and it wasn't there last week. Nor did anyone I know have a cold within the last month.

Meanwhile, I'm afraid that if I watch House tonight, it will only make me more pissed off and less productive, which I can't really risk seeing as the damn paper is due in less than 48 hours. 'Cause lets face it, after last weeks episode, there is not much to look forward too. Besides, I watched the clips on fox, they did not make me at all optimistic that it would feature House (that being the title of the show) in a kick ass brain puzzle.

Oh, and did I mention I failed a calculus today, and if I want to get half credit for the problems I got wrong, I have to rework them ten times each by guess which day?

Yeah. Wednesday.

What the fuck is it with Wednesdays anyway? They never seemed all that important before this week.

Maybe I should just form a group of people to go kick Wednesdays ass. I never liked Wednesday very much anyway. Wednesday and February, who are never pronounced the way they're spelled...I should just remove them from the calendar...

So, here's the good news: I've just about finished chapter 2 of Aftermath. Took a damn long time thanks to all the physics and math classes I'm taking. But it's just about done, so I'm quite cheerful.

Now, the bad news. Which there is significantly more of.

1. I won't post Aftermath until [info]dreamsofspike can take a look at it, because I've become paranoid about this story and making sure it reads well and I'm not screwing up lingo. One afternoon I spent a couple of hours researching usage of the term "Leftenant".  I discovered that military ranking is unnecessarily complicated. But I digress. I can't send it to my lovely beta until I go home Friday. Why, you ask? My university thinks it's amusing to drive me nuts by imposing a network quota on us. I can only download/upload 5 GB total/ week, and between the Microsoft auto updates and me downloading all my emails to my hard drive via Thunderbird (I'm paranoid that my email account will randomly start deleting my emails without permission again), I have to be careful about what I upload/download while at school.

2. I have a test in Linear Algebra and Matrix Theory on Wednesday, and once I get past section 3 I have no idea what I'm doing. Our teacher tells us all these theorems and laws, but then he neglects to teach us how to do the problems out of the book. It's bloody annoying. So if any of you know matrix theory and can actually do linear algebra, HELP!!

3. Modern Physics test tomorrow. I'm actually not too worried about it. It's more trying to remember the equations than anything. But nevertheless, still a test, and therefore, dreaded.

I think that covers bad news. Which leaves us with...EMMY AWARDS TONIGHT!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!1

Hugh Laurie is nominated, of course, for best actor (screw mad men, I say. Hugh's been shunned too many times), and House itself is nominated for best drama. So ya'll have to tune in and cheer him on. I'll know if you don't. I am that good.

So I'm going to go back to memorizing equations for physics while I wait for red carpet time to roll around. Hugh better be there, he skipped the golden globes back in January because of the writers strike. Yeah....

You know what stupid thing I did today? Well, I'm going to tell you in form of a story. Whether you want to read it or not.

So once upon a time, my Dad acquired  a '53 Dodge Coronet. Being some 55 years old, the Dodge has to have it paint touched up once a year. It must look perfect for the Woodward Dream Cruise.

On a side note, I hate the Dream Cruise. It's a load of old cars producing enough exhaust to choke the life out of half the people in Royal Oak. I nearly fainted one year at it.

Anyway, the paint touch ups each year includes making sure the lettering on the hubcaps is filled in with red paint. This, I did with no problem, all while rotting my mind watching the completely useless America's Next Top Model. I don't even like models. That show is just a constant reminder I'm not pretty enough to be one.

Kay, back from the tangent.

So I finish the hubcaps, and next on the list is painting the tire rims red where last years paint chipped off. So, I'm chilling there, painting away, feel something wet on my arm...

I seriously freaked. It seams that I somehow managed to drag about half my head of hair through wet red paint. Six inches were completely covered. And it did not want to come off.

Have you ever thought someone looked like a mad ax murderer? That's what I looked like. There was paint completely coating my hands, it was up my arms, on my jeans, on my neck, in my hair. I'm amazed my T-shirt came out unscathed.

So I spent the next hour standing over the bathroom sink with my dad scrubbing my hair, hands, and arms. It took five different paint removers to get it all out and off; including turpentine, nail polish remover, WD-40, this Citrus hand cleaner that's supposed to take off car oil and grease, and Goo Gone.

Oddly enough, the hand cleaner worked better on my hair than my hands, and Goo Gone is what cleaned my skin.

So now I'm super stressed out, and totally paranoid about my hair. I thought I was gonna have to chop it all off.

My advice of the day: If you have hair (or skin) NEVER paint anything EVER! Because it will get on you, it will get every where, and WILL NOT want to come off.

Really, I have. Ophelia's got nothing on me.

Ever since those plot bunnies attacked me last week, I've been endlessly researching the Battle of Passchendaele. Apparently this Blackadder fic I'm writing is destined to be as realistic as I can get it. And since it's most likely Passchendaele that Blackadder and the rest were charging into in that final scene...

I've been reading accounts of the battle, listening to music about the battle...it's really quite amazing how many songs there are about Passchendaele. There's English artists, swedish artists... and I discovered that a movie (entitled Passchendaele) is wrapping and is due to be released in Novemeber. It's looks quite good, and follows the Canadian Corps through WWI, culminating in their sucess at Passchendaele. The movie site is particularly helpful, there are letters from Soldier Michael Dunne, grandfather of the director that span the entire war.

Still, I'm not entirely sure what I've gotten myself into writing this thing. It's not a comedy in any sense...and I'm amazed that Ben Elton was able to turn WWI into one. It's also very slow writing...I have a whole new respect for Dreams of Spike and how she writes Used so quickly, especially since her story is so much more painful than mine.

Oh well...I'll get through it. Just needed to voice my musings...

Today in Calculus, I got attacked by giant evil plot bunnies. The had huge sharp fangs and forced me to start writing a story in my notebook margins and wouldn't let me learn about MacLaurin Series. It was horrible. And scary. And because of them I've spent the last two hours researching the Battle of Passchendaele and typing up the start of my story, which happens to be a Blackadder Goes Forth fanfic.

I tried to continue my House fics, but the plot bunnies bit me. *Holds up bandaged finger as proof*

So anyway...I guess I'd like to know if anyone would be interested in betaing this fic when I'm done. It looks like it'll end up being in chapters. And basically, it's the aftermath of the episode Goodbyeee, is angsty and contains severe injuries. No character death yet, but so the plot bunnies have only let me include one character. Let me know if you'd like to beta!
